On the 16th October we were called to an Urgent roofing issue at Co Op Pharmacy Pontypool. Our engineers attended site and inspected the roof area and found significant disintegration of the timber supports. Our engineers David Walters and Garan Beard quickly identified the areas of concern and notified newly appointed contracts manager Mike Willis and Operations Director Jeff Price who were quickly on site to control the situation. It was agreed to prop the area below the timber floor to transfer the weight. We began work on the area around the supports to allow the Pharmacy to trade from the rear of the premises, along with making the area safe this was our main focus so that the Pharmacy did not loose any trade.

We instructed a specialist structural engineer who was on site the very next day to inspect the areas and he provided a full report and recommendations for temporary repairs. We have removed a pocket of wall at both supports and embeded a precast padstone as shown in photos above. We have now installed steel channels to the rafters to provide additional support and allow the Pharmacy to trade. Our thanks go to all our engineers  involved in the works; David Walters, Garan Beard and James Griffiths. Also the expertise and quick thinking by Jeff Price,Ben Horton and Mike Willis to make the area safe and allow the Pharmacy to continue to trade.
